BBC One Releases Trailer For Informer

BBC One has released the first full trailer for its upcoming contemporary thriller Informer, offering audiences an intense preview of one of the broadcaster’s most topical drama commissions.

Informer is a six-part drama set in London, centring on the murky world of counterterrorism policing and the ethical grey areas surrounding the use of civilian informants. The trailer immediately establishes a tense, claustrophobic tone, with surveillance, covert operations and moral compromise placed front and centre.

The series stars Bel Powley as DS Raza Shar, a young counterterrorism officer under pressure to deliver results, and Nabhaan Rizwan as Gabe Waters, a vulnerable young man coerced into becoming an informant. Their relationship forms the emotional and ethical core of the drama.

Also starring is Paddy Considine, who plays Gabe’s uncle, a conflicted and unpredictable figure whose presence adds further complexity to the narrative. Considine’s involvement signals the show’s commitment to character-driven drama rather than procedural formula.

The trailer highlights the show’s focus on internal conflict as much as external threat. Rather than depicting terrorism in simplistic terms, Informer explores the personal cost of surveillance, the psychological damage inflicted on informants, and the moral compromises faced by those tasked with preventing attacks.

Informer is written by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani, whose background in politically charged storytelling is evident throughout the footage. The drama avoids sensationalism, opting instead for realism grounded in contemporary Britain.

BBC One has positioned Informer as part of its ongoing investment in socially relevant thrillers that reflect modern anxieties. Following the success of shows such as Bodyguard, the broadcaster has continued to prioritise dramas that interrogate power, security and accountability.

The production was filmed extensively on location in London, giving the series a grounded, documentary-like feel. Urban spaces, transport hubs and residential areas are presented as sites of constant observation and tension.

The trailer suggests a narrative that unfolds gradually, with mounting pressure rather than explosive action. This slow-burn approach reflects a growing audience appetite for psychologically complex storytelling.

Informer will air in prime time on BBC One, with episodes also available on BBC iPlayer.

With its trailer now released, Informer is shaping up to be one of BBC One’s most talked-about dramas of the year, promising a gripping and morally challenging examination of modern counterterrorism.
