Archive Netflix UK Acquires The CW’s ‘Riverdale’, Freeform’s ‘Beyond’ & Polyamorous Comedy ‘You Me Her’ – TVWise

Netflix UK is adding a trio of exclusives to their line-up. The streaming service – in separate deals with Warner Bros. International Television Distribution, Disney Media Distribution and Entertainment One (eOne) – has secured the exclusive UK rights to The CW’s new comic book series Riverdale, Freeform drama series Beyond and comedy You Me Her, TVWise has learned.
Riverdale, from Arrow & The Flash superproducer Greg Berlanti, will unspool weekly on Netflix, with episodes being made available less than 24 hours after they air on The CW state-side; while both Beyond and You Me Her will debut their entire seasons at launch. Beyond premieres on Tuesday January 3rd, followed by You Me Her on Wednesday January 18th and Riverdale on Friday January 27th.
Based on the Archie Comics’ characters, Riverdale is set in the present day and is described as a surprising and subversive take on Archie, Betty, Veronica, and their friends, exploring the surrealism of small town life — the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome façade. The drama series is produced by Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios and stars K.J. Apa, Cole Sprouse, Camila Mendes, Lili Reinhart, Madelaine Petsch, Ashleigh Murray, Luke Perry, Ross Butler, Casey Cott and Marisol Nichols.
Beyond tells the story Holden, a young man who wakes up from a coma after 12 years and discovers new abilities that propel him into the middle of a dangerous conspiracy. Now Holden must try and figure out what happened to him during those 12 years; how to survive a world that changed while he was gone; and answer the question, why did this happen to him? The drama series is produced by Imperative Entertainment and Automatik and stars Burkely Duffield, Romy Rosemont, Michael McGrady, Jonathan Whitesell, Dilan Gwyn and Jeff Pierre.
Produced for AT&T’s Audience Network, You Me Her is a half-hour series which has been described as television first “polyamorous romantic comedy”. What begins as an impulsive “date” between suburban husband Jack and neophyte escort Izzy spins into a whirlwind 3-way affair including Jack’s wife Emma (Blanchard), who’s been keeping secrets of her own. The comedy, which has already been renewed for a second and third season, is produced eOne and stars Greg Poehler (Welcome to Sweden), Rachel Blanchard (Fargo) and Priscilla Faia (Rookie Blue).
