Netflix Orders Cameron Dallas Reality Series – TVWise

Netflix is moving into the reality space.
The streaming giant has handed out a series order to an as-yet untitled reality series that will revolved around social media star Cameron Dallas, TVWise has learned.
Cameron Dallas rose to fame over the past few years thanks to his viral vine videos that have since won over the hearts of adults and tweens across the globe. More than just a “digital celebrity,” Dallas is a model, entrepreneur and content creator who has a fan base of over 35 million followers across 5 different social media platforms.
The series will follow Cameron Dallas and his close circle of friends and family as he looks to take his career to the next level. It’s not all selfies and Vine videos as the unscripted vehicle explores the stark contrast between his very public online persona and who he is in his personal life.
It will be produced by Netflix Originals and Magical Elves, with Jane Lipsitz, Dan Cutforth, Ben Curtis, Sanford Wernickm Jon Liebman, Cameron Dallas and Bart Bordelon serving as the executive producers. Cameron Dallas is represented by WME, Brillstein Entertainment Partners and attorney Adam Kaller.
This is the first reality series for Netflix, who before now have avoided such projects. It comes at a time when Hollywood is turning more and more to new media stars, who have built-in audiences with a strong presence on social media, for new projects. The announcement comes some months after it was announced that YouTube star Tyler Oakley had inked a deal with Ellen DeGeneres and her production company to develop projects for television.
