History is continuing their push into scripted drama.
After testing the waters with scripted series Vikings (currently airing its third season) and a slew of miniseries that has included Hatfields & McCoys, Sons Of Liberty and the upcoming Texas Rising, History has put into development Knightfall – an hour-long series about the Knights Templar.
Knightfall will chronicle the actual event leading up to and following the persecution, downfall and burning at the stake of the Knights Templar on Friday 13th 1307. Friday the 13th is known as a cursed day over 700 years later because of this event
If the project makes its way through development and ultimately gets a greenlight it will become only the second original drama series for History. Knightfall was created by Don Handfield and is set up at the network’s sister studio A+E Studios, The Combine and Midnight Radio.
The hour-long project is being executive produced by writer/creator Don Handfield, Richard Rayner, Jeremy Renner, Jeff Pinkner, Andre Nemec, Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg.
