BBC One’s one-off drama Roald Dahl’s Esio Trot will premiere on New Years Day (Thursday January 1st) at 6:30pm, it has been announced.
Adapted for television by Richard Curtis and Paul Mayhew-Archer, Roald Dahl’s Esio Trot tells the story of Mr. Hoppy, who devises a wildly ingenious plot to win over his neighbor, Mrs. Silver, which involves a cryptic riddle and no fewer than a hundred tortoises. Will Mr Hoppy’s wildly ingenious plot win the love of his lady?
The one-off 90 minute drama, which is a major part of BBC One’s Christmas schedule alongside the likes of The Boy In The Dress and a pair of Mrs Brown’s Boys specials, was produced by Endor Productions, directed by Dearbhla Walsh and stars Judi Dench and Dustin Hoffman. The executive producer is Hilary Bevan Jones.
