Fox has handed early renewals to The Following, New Girl, The Mindy Project and Raising Hope. The Following will return for a second season, New Girl for a third, The Mindy Project for a second and Raising Hope for a fourth.
Six episodes in, The Following is already the No. 2 broadcast drama and the No. 3 drama overall this season with Live+7 ratings. Since it launched, the drama series has also quickly established itself as one of the most buzzed-about series in social media, ranking as the No. 1 new broadcast drama in total social comments. “From the very beginning, we felt Kevin Williamson and Marcos Siega had created a high-quality, edge-of-your-seat drama that could break from the pack, and it is exciting to see the audience responding,” said Kevin Reilly, Chairman of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. “Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy have given us two of the most compelling characters on television and the entire cast is incredible. I’m delighted to have this thrill ride continue on FOX for another season.”
Fox Tuesday night comedy block, which consists of New Girl, The Mindy Project and Raising Hope, will be back next season. Season to date, New Girl ranks No. 1 among comedies in its core Women 18-34 demographic and is a Top 10 comedy among Adults 18-49. The Mindy Project has emerged as the No. 1 new comedy of the season among Women 18-34, while Raising Hope, which has anchored FOX’s Tuesday nights this season, is a Top 20 sitcom among Adults 18-34 and Teens. “We love working with these talented producers and casts who, week after week, create some of the funniest work on television,” said Reilly. “These shows are creatively vibrant, they have established a loyal and passionate audience and they will continue to define and grow the FOX comedy brand next season and beyond.”
