Jake Ballard will be crossing paths with Olivia Pope once again. The Unit alum Scott Foley has been upped to a series regular for the upcoming third season of ABC’s drama series Scandal. The promotion comes after Foley, who is currently a regular on Fox’s ill-fated comedy series The Goodwin Games, recurred on the back half of Scandal‘s third season as Jake Ballard, an old friend of the President.

Created by Shonda Rhimes, Scandal follows Olivia Pope, a former White House Communications Director, who runs a crisis management firm in Washington DC; where she must protect the images of the political elite, including the President of the United States. The drama series is produced by ABC Studios and stars Kerry Washington, Columbus Short, Darby Stanchfield, Katie Lowes, Guillermo Diaz, Jeff Perry, Joshua Malina and Tony Goldwyn. The series, which became one of ABC’s highest rated dramas in its second season, was renewed for a third season last month.

“I’m thrilled to join such a talented, enthusiastic and professional group of people,” said Scott Foley. “Shonda and company have created a troupe of layered, complex characters, and to be able to be part of that is both exciting and humbling.”
