Tony Saint, a lead writer on Sky’s action thriller Strike Back, is stepping away from the show to develop a new crime drama, The Interceptor, for the BBC.

The project centres on a covert law-enforcement unit charged with tracking down some of Britain’s most dangerous and elusive criminals, keeping its targets under constant surveillance as it tries to bring them to justice.

Saint made his name on Strike Back, the high-octane series co-produced by Sky and Cinemax, and now turns to a grittier, home-grown story for the BBC. Casting and a transmission date are still to be confirmed.
