West Brom v Birmingham TV coverage

The derby was originally a three o’clock game and was moved to lunchtime once Sky took it, which is why it avoids the Saturday blackout. Sky subscribers can stream it through the Sky Sports app, while anyone without a Sky contract can watch through a NOW Sports membership.

It does run head to head with Arsenal v Leeds on TNT Sports, so viewers with both subscriptions have a choice to make at 12.30. Albion are back on screen three days later as well, when Tuesday night’s trip to Wrexham is on Sky Sports+.

Only three points separate the sides.

West Brom are fifth after eight games and nobody has beaten them at The Hawthorns yet this season, although home draws with Charlton and QPR have cost James Morrison’s side points along the way. They went into the break on the back of a 1-0 defeat at Wolves, where Fer Lopez scored the only goal on 20 September.

Birmingham sit 10th and have turned the draw into something of a habit under Chris Davies, sharing the points in five of their eight league games. Both of their wins have come away from home, 2-1 at Wrexham and 2-1 at Derby, and their last game before the break was a 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough at St Andrew’s. Neither of last season’s derbies produced a winner, with a 1-1 at The Hawthorns followed by a goalless draw in Birmingham.

Albion lost right-back Nolan Galves during the international break, with a knee injury expected to keep him out for the rest of the season. Brayann Pereira, signed from NEC Nijmegen on deadline day, is the obvious candidate to step in. Mikey Johnston is still missing after a setback in his recovery from the ankle he broke in February.

Birmingham’s picture is less settled. Demarai Gray, Max Bird and the former Albion midfielder Taylor Gardner-Hickman have all been working back from injury, and whether Davies risks them should be clear when the teams are named around 11.30. Marc Leonard remains out with an Achilles problem, and Paik Seung-ho picked up a knock while away with South Korea.
