Brazil v Japan live stream, TV channel
Brazil v Japan will be shown live in the UK on ITV1, with kick off at 6:00pm BST. Scottish viewers can also watch on STV. The match takes place at NRG Stadium (Houston Stadium) in Texas.
Brazil and Japan meet in World Cup knockout rounds, with the five time world champions up against a Samurai Blue side who have proven time and again at this tournament that they are capable of causing serious problems for the very best.
Brazil came through Group C as winners after a rocky start, with the 1-1 draw with Morocco in their opener followed by back-to-back 3-0 victories over Haiti and a dominant win over Scotland in Miami.
Vinicius Junior and Matheus Cunha were the standout players throughout the group stage, with Carlo Ancelotti’s side looking increasingly fluid as the tournament has progressed.
Raphinha remains a doubt with the hamstring injury he picked up against Haiti and is not expected to be fit in time for Monday’s game.
Ancelotti is likely to name an unchanged side, with young Bournemouth winger Rayan continuing on the right flank opposite Vinicius Junior, while Marquinhos, Gabriel and Danilo are expected to anchor the defence in front of Alisson.
Brazil’s defence was found wanting the last time these two sides met.
Japan beat the Selecao 3-2 in an October friendly, albeit with a second string Brazil backline, and that result will give Moriyasu’s side real belief heading into tonight.
Japan finished second in Group F after drawing 2-2 with the Netherlands and 1-1 with Sweden either side of an impressive 4-0 win over Tunisia.
A late Anthony Elanga goal for Sweden denied the Samurai Blue top spot in the group on the final matchday, but Hajime Moriyasu’s side arrive in Houston in solid shape and have conceded just three goals in their last 540 minutes of football.
Japan are without Brighton’s Kaoru Mitoma and Liverpool’s Wataru Endo, both of whom suffered tournament ending injuries before the group stage began.
Daizen Maeda is expected to retain his place up front after scoring against Sweden, with centre back Ko Itakura also pushing to return after coming off early in the same game with a knock that is not believed to be serious. Takefusa Kubo remains unlikely to feature due to a knee issue.
Japan have never won a World Cup knockout match in the men’s game, losing in the last 16 at each of 2002, 2010, 2018 and 2022.
Brazil have not been knocked out before the quarter finals since 1990.
