Panama vs England live stream, TV channel
Panama v England will be shown live in the UK on ITV1, with kick off at 10:00pm BST. Scottish viewers can also watch on STV. The match takes place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
England suffered a slight setback with a 0-0 draw against Ghana in their second group game, but Thomas Tuchel’s side will be aiming to bounce back against already-eliminated Panama, who are pointless and goalless after two matches.
There are a maximum of six games left on England’s schedule this summer, and Tuchel has the look of a coach in a hurry as he works out how to smooth out the rough edges of his side.
The 4-2 win over Croatia showed defensive vulnerability, while Ghana exposed a lack of offensive spark as they sat deep and held out for a hard-earned point.
Achieving a more complete performance is the obvious challenge for Tuchel tonight, and he may be plotting a few more changes to his starting lineup.
England have scored first-half goals in five of their last seven competitive games and will be looking for an early breakthrough to set the tone in New Jersey.
England are keen to advance to the round of 32 as Group L winners and can sign off from the first phase of the tournament with a comfortable victory if they get things right.
It would have been ideal to have clinched top spot with a game to spare, but the Ghana game may eventually prove to be a useful learning experience in a tournament that is still very much in its early stages for Tuchel’s side.
Panama are getting ready to depart after narrow 1-0 defeats to both Ghana and Croatia, and the Canal Men have looked a more competitive side than they were at Russia 2018. Their search for a first ever World Cup point is ongoing after five successive defeats on the biggest stage, but Thomas Christiansen’s side will not give up without a fight.
Ghana were physical and fully committed, and their cautious tactical approach may well be mirrored by Panama, who would love nothing more than to leave the tournament with a point or three in their back pocket.
That said, Panama’s players looked understandably deflated after the final whistle against Croatia, and it is doubtful whether they can replicate Ghana’s defensive masterclass.
