Channel 4 Releases Trailer for The Accident

Channel 4 has released the trailer for The Accident, its new drama from writer Jack Thorne, ahead of the four-part series beginning on Thursday October 24th at 9pm.

The series completes a loose trilogy of Channel 4 dramas from Thorne, following his earlier National Treasure and Kiri. It stars Sarah Lancashire as Polly Bevan, a hairdresser married to a local councillor, played by Mark Lewis Jones, who has championed a major construction project intended to revive their struggling Welsh town.

When an explosion on the building site kills a group of local children, the community is consumed by grief and a search for accountability, and it falls to Polly to try to hold both her family and the town together. Sidse Babett Knudsen, Joanna Scanlan and Jade Croot also feature.

Thorne has said the drama was inspired by the sense of injustice surrounding real disasters such as Grenfell and Aberfan. It was filmed on location across South Wales.
