What channel is Chelsea v Man Utd on?

Chelsea have lost two in a row. Tottenham won 2-0 at Stamford Bridge last weekend, and in midweek Xabi Alonso’s side went out of the Carabao Cup on penalties at Liverpool after a 1-1 draw at Anfield.

That has taken the shine off a good spell after the international break, when they beat Bournemouth 5-1 and won 2-0 at Everton. Defending is the recurring problem, with Chelsea among the leakiest sides in the top half and now out of the top four.

Maxence Lacroix picked up a hamstring problem at Anfield and is set to miss out, joining Reece James, Joao Pedro, Emiliano Martinez and Jamie Gittens on the sidelines. Moises Caicedo and Malo Gusto both came off in midweek but should be fine, Pep Chavarria may return, and Cole Palmer is back after serving his one-match ban and could play as a false nine.

Wesley Fofana is expected to come in for Lacroix despite a difficult night at Anfield, where he gave away a penalty and then missed in the shootout.

Manchester United are in a far worse place. Michael Carrick’s side are 16th, one point above the relegation zone, and have gone eight games without a win in all competitions, the latest a 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth last weekend.

They are still waiting for a first away win of the season, having drawn at Leeds and lost 4-1 at Como in the Champions League. Carrick has been given time by the club despite the run, and insists he does not need assurances about his future.

Bruno Fernandes was left out against Bournemouth, but the captain and his manager have since cleared the air and Fernandes is expected back in the side. Kobbie Mainoo has returned to training, Marcus Rashford’s availability is unclear, and Luke Shaw, Benjamin Sesko, Manuel Ugarte and Patrick Dorgu are all still missing.

United won both league meetings between the sides last season, which gives Carrick something to hold on to at Stamford Bridge.
