BBC One has officially cancelled the family sitcom In with the Flynns after two seasons. The show starred Will Mellor, Niky Wardley, and Warren Clarke, following the comedic highs and lows of a working-class family in Manchester.

The cancellation follows a noticeable dip in ratings for the second series, which aired in summer 2012. While the first season garnered solid viewership, the follow-up struggled to maintain a consistent audience despite positive reviews.

In with the Flynns was based on the US sitcom Grounded for Life and adapted for a British audience by Caryn Mandabach Productions. The series aimed to blend heartfelt family moments with relatable humor rooted in everyday life.

BBC One has been refining its comedy lineup and is expected to focus on new projects going forward. The cancellation reflects the network’s shifting strategy toward broader, more diverse comedic voices.

Though short-lived, the show managed to deliver memorable performances and moments of genuine warmth during its run.
