Amazon Prime Video UK Acquires DC Universe’s ‘Swamp Thing’, Sets October Premiere

Swamp Thing is coming to the UK. Amazon Prime Video UK has acquired the UK rights to the DC Universe original series after striking a deal with Warner Bros International Television Distribution. The series will be available to stream for UK Prime members from Friday October 4th.

Swamp Thing, which was cancelled after a single ten episode season, follows Abby Arcane as she investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana but soon discovers that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets. When unexplainable and chilling horrors emerge from the murky marsh, no one is safe.

The drama series is produced by Warner Bros Television and stars Crystal Reed, Andy Bean, Virginia Madsen, Henderson Wade, Maria Sten, Jeryl Prescott and Will Patton. Swamp Thing is only the second DC Universe original to find a UK home. Netflix UK previously inked a deal with Warner Bros for the streaming service’s flagship show Titans. There is still no confirmed UK deal for Titans spin-off Doom Patrol.

At Amazon Prime Video UK, Swamp Thing joins a slate of first run U.S. acquisitions that includes such shows as: AMC’s Preacher; CBS All Access’ Star Trek: Picard, Freeform’s The Bold Type; History’s period drama Vikings; NBC’s New Amsterdam; Starz’s American Gods and Outlander; and USA Network’s Mr Robot, The Purge, and Jason Bourne spin-off Treadstone.
