FX has set their sights on a Sons Of Anarchy spin-off. The network is teaming with Sons Of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter to develop a spin-off of the long-running biker drama, TVWise has confirmed.
Few details are available at this time, but it is understood that the project will revolve around the Mayan biker gang, who appeared in several seasons of Sons Of Anarchy. It is not immediately clear if any of the actors who played members of said gang (such as Emilio Rivera who played Marcus Alvarez) will segue to the spin-off.
The proposed spin-off series is set up at FX Productions and Fox 21 Television Studios and would be devised and executive produced by Kurt Sutter. He is not expected to have much day-to-day involvement should the project land a series order, however, as he remains focussed on his other FX series The Bastard Executioner. A search for a potential showrunner is presently underway.
FX and Sutter have been mulling the prospect of a Sons Of Anarchy spin-off for years. Talk of the project reached something of a fever pitch when the show came to an end last year, but this is really the first piece of solid news of a spin-off. Previously, Kurt Sutter had mentioned his desire to produce a prequel series focusing on The First 9.
