Alibi has added another US crime drama to its schedule, acquiring the UK rights to The Protector, the Lifetime series starring Ally Walker.
Walker, best known in the UK for Profiler and her role as ATF agent June Stahl in Sons of Anarchy, plays Gloria Sheppard, a recently divorced detective in the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division who has to solve murders while raising her two young sons, Nick and Leo.
Tisha Campbell-Martin co-stars as Gloria’s partner, with Miguel Ferrer as her boss. Sage Ryan and Thomas Robinson play her sons.
Produced by ABC Studios with Jeffrey Bell and Michael Nankin among its executive producers, The Protector was Lifetime’s first weekly crime series. Its 13 episodes aired in the US last summer, though the network chose not to order a second season.
The series joins a growing line-up of imported crime dramas on the UKTV channel, which has been building its slate of US procedurals over recent months.
