England v France Live Stream Details

France were the tournament favourites and are widely regarded as the best team not to have reached the final.

Their semi-final defeat to Spain came in their worst performance of the summer, with La Roja’s high press completely dominating possession for long stretches. Much of the credit belongs to Spain, but Didier Deschamps will want a reaction from his players tonight in his very last game in charge after 14 years managing Les Bleus.

France have won five of their last seven meetings with England across all competitions, losing just once, and go into this one as favourites on the head-to-head record.

Kylian Mbappe is expected to start, with Ousmane Dembele and Michael Olise continuing in support. France have scored in every game at this tournament and Deschamps will not be letting standards drop for his farewell night.

England’s semi-final exit was dramatic and, ultimately, controversial. After taking the lead against Argentina through Kane’s 55th-minute penalty, Tuchel’s side were heavily criticised for sitting back with only 12% possession for much of the second half, conceding twice late on to lose 2-1.

The manner of the defeat has dominated the headlines since, with Jude Bellingham publicly challenging Tuchel’s decision to defend so deep, a public disagreement that adds an uncomfortable backdrop to tonight’s game.

Harry Kane is expected to start and will be chasing the Golden Boot, currently level with Messi on eight goals.

A brace tonight would give him a strong claim on the award regardless of what happens in tomorrow’s final. Bellingham’s place in the starting lineup is less certain given the very public nature of his falling out with Tuchel, though the England manager has publicly said the matter is resolved and the Bayern midfielder is expected to feature.

Marc Guehi and Declan Rice are both fit, with Reece James also potentially available for a rare start.

The one silver lining of the Argentina defeat is that the suspension and injury concerns that had disrupted England’s squad throughout the knockout rounds no longer apply, so Tuchel has more options tonight than in any previous game at this tournament.
