Is Cardiff v Burnley on TV?

Cardiff have taken eight points from their last five games, a decent return from a run that included Watford, Middlesbrough, Birmingham, Wolves and West Ham. Wednesday will still hurt, though, as Brian Barry-Murphy’s side let a 3-0 half-time lead slip against West Ham and had to settle for a 3-3 draw.

The Bluebirds are 18th, five points above the relegation zone and only three points off 12th, and they are unbeaten in seven league games at the Cardiff City Stadium. A defeat here, though, would leave them just two points clear of the bottom three.

Perry Ng was injured late on against West Ham, so Ronan Kpakio is in line to deputise at right-back. David Turnbull, Cian Ashford and Joel Colwill are all pushing for recalls after the quick turnaround, and Gabriel Osho is available again after a three-match ban and could come in for Will Fish.

Burnley are 22nd and already four points from safety, with just one league win all season, a 4-0 victory at Watford. New head coach Fabio Celestini has at least steadied things with two draws from his first two games, 0-0 at home to Portsmouth and 1-1 at QPR.

Their away form has been slightly better than their home form, with five points from their last five trips, but Celestini knows a second win of the season is needed as soon as possible.

Celestini may stick with the side that drew at QPR, with Jamie Vardy leading the line, although Josh Cullen, Aaron Ramsey and Jaydon Banel are all options. Bashir Humphreys, Hannibal Mejbri and Chelsea loanee Dastan Satpaev are still out.

With both sides looking over their shoulders, this has the feel of an important game at the bottom end of the table, and Cardiff’s home record makes them the side under less pressure.
