Scotland v Switzerland live stream details

Sebastien Pocognoli takes charge of Scotland at Hampden Park for the first time on Tuesday night, with kick off against Switzerland at 19.45 BST.

Pocognoli’s Scotland career is one game old and it brought a goalless draw in Slovenia. The underlying numbers were a good deal better than the scoreline, with four big chances created and an expected goals figure of 2.16 against a Slovenian side who managed 0.47.

Finishing was the problem, and it may well be the problem again here.

Oli McBurnie and Robbie Ure both passed up good openings in Ljubljana, which could open the door for Kieron Bowie. Scotland sit second in League B Group 1 with that single point.

The backdrop is a difficult summer. Steve Clarke stood down after the World Cup, where Scotland beat Haiti 1-0 before losing to Morocco and Brazil in performances plenty of supporters found too passive.

That came after relegation from League A, sealed by a 3-0 second leg defeat to Greece, and a qualifying campaign that took them to the tournament as Group C winners on 13 points from six games. It has been an odd 18 months.

Switzerland went down from League A at the same time, finishing bottom of their group with two points from six. Their response has been rather more emphatic.

Murat Yakin’s side won seven and drew three of their next 10, reached the World Cup unbeaten as group winners, then saw off Algeria and Colombia before going out to Argentina in the quarter-finals, conceding twice in extra time after Breel Embolo had been sent off.

North Macedonia were beaten 3-0 in their Nations League opener, Zeki Amdouni scoring twice and setting up another while deputising for the suspended Embolo. He should keep his place, with Dan Ndoye and Johan Manzambi either side of him and Alvyn Sanches pushing for a start.

Switzerland have not won in Scotland since March 2006.
