Manchester City kicked off their Premier League campaign with a thrilling 4-0 victory over Wolves at Molineux. Erling Haaland was on top of his game that day as he netted a brace and newcomers Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki also made their name on the scoresheet.

City fans were wary after seeing their team’s exit from the Club World Cup last month at the hands of Al-Hilal, but the statement victory from the opening weekend has changed the form for the better. Despite the commanding win, Pep Guardiola downplayed the event as he pointed towards a long tough season with different competitions to play for.

Mateo Kovacic, Kalvin Phillips and Savinho will miss the match due to injuries. Rodri, Ederson, Phil Foden and Josko Gvardiol returned to training ahead of the game and are expected to be in contention to start. Oscar Bobb could have a shot at the starting eleven as Foden is yet to ascertain full match fitness.

Tottenham Hostpur could not have asked for a better start to the start than the 3-0 victory over newly promoted Burnley. Spurs fans were left discontent after watching their side lose in the UEFA Super Cup to Paris Saint-Germain.

Thomas Frank was delighted to see Richarlison charge proceedings during the Burnley match as the Brazilian scored a brace and Brennan Johnson netted the third following the break. Both of Richarlison’s goals were assisted by new signing Mohammed Kudus.

Despite the opening day triumph, Spurs fans would have wanted to see their club land the signing of Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace as Arsenal left it late to hijack the move. The Lilywhites are still in the market for new additions, and it remains to be seen who replaces Eze as their latest transfer target.

Yves Bissouma and Destiny Udogie missed the Premier League opener with injuries but both of them are set to return for the Man City clash.
