Brighton v Aston Villa Live Stream Details

Europa League holders Aston Villa open their Premier League campaign on the south coast, a year on from a seven-goal afternoon at the Amex that finished 4-3 in their favour.

Brighton begin a 10th straight season in the top flight, with Fabian Hurzeler having delivered back to back eighth-placed finishes and a Conference League playoff spot.

Rest has been in short supply. The Seagulls flew north of the Arctic Circle on Thursday for a goalless first leg against Tromso, having won all four pre-season friendlies against Wycombe, Strasbourg, Roma and Bologna.

Yankuba Minteh, Kaoru Mitoma, Stefanos Tzimas and Evan Ferguson are all sidelined, while Carlos Baleba is nursing an ankle problem and closing in on a move to Manchester United. Canadian forward Promise David arrived this week and is available.

Villa arrive after a summer of change. Morgan Rogers, Youri Tielemans, Lucas Digne and Ezri Konsa have all departed, with Konsa’s move to Arsenal confirmed on Friday, and Unai Emery has reinvested in seven new faces.

Zion Suzuki, Matteo Ruggeri and Aaron Wan-Bissaka were all announced this week and could feature. Johan Manzambi, Joao Gomes, Brian Madjo, Leon Bailey and Amadou Onana are unavailable, with Alejandro Garnacho and Tammy Abraham both facing checks.

Ollie Watkins is another to watch. Emery admitted on Friday that he could not guarantee the striker would stay amid interest from Al-Hilal.

Brighton are unbeaten in their last five opening day fixtures, but the head to head makes uncomfortable reading. Villa have won nine of the 14 top-flight meetings between the clubs and are unbeaten in four against Hurzeler, scoring 10 goals along the way.
