Wimbledon returns to the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club from Monday 29 June through to Sunday 12 July, with record prize money on offer and plenty of storylines for fans to follow over the fortnight.

Two-time champion Carlos Alcaraz has already been ruled out through injury, while defending champion Jannik Sinner arrives under a slight cloud of doubt after a shock second round exit at the French Open.

Their absence or uncertain form opens the draw up significantly heading into the tournament.

When and where to watch Serena Williams at Wimbledon

Perhaps the biggest story of the build up has been the return of Serena Williams, who ended a four year hiatus from professional tennis at Queen’s and will partner sister Venus Williams in the doubles at Wimbledon.

The seven time singles champion has also been handed a wild card to compete in the singles draw, giving fans the chance to see her back on Centre Court one more time.

Williams plays her first round singles match against Australia’s Maya Joint on Tuesday 30 June.

The match is third on Centre Court, with play getting under way from 11am BST and Williams expected on court from around 4:20pm BST depending on how the earlier matches progress.

As with the rest of the tournament, the match will be shown live and free on BBC One or BBC Two, with full coverage also available to stream via BBC iPlayer.

A date for her doubles return alongside Venus has not yet been confirmed, though the first round of the ladies’ doubles begins on 2 July and continues into 3 July, with the sisters drawn against Camila Osorio and Solana Sierra.

The men’s and women’s singles run throughout the full fortnight from 29 June to 12 July, with doubles starting on 3 July and the mixed doubles, junior and wheelchair events also taking place across the second week.

This year’s champions will collect a record £3.6 million, with the runner up taking home £1.8 million. Even first round losers in the main draw are guaranteed £80,000, reflecting the continued rise in prize money across the Grand Slams.
