Germany v Curacao on TV: Live Streaming Details

Germany open their 2026 World Cup campaign at NRG Stadium in Houston on Sunday night against Curacao, who are making their first ever World Cup appearance.

It is a match that could hardly be more one sided on paper, but Germany will be well aware of the dangers of complacency after two painful group stage exits in 2018 and 2022.

Julian Nagelsmann’s side arrive in excellent form, winning each of their last nine matches in all competitions.

Their warm up fixtures this year against Switzerland, Ghana, Finland and the USA were all won convincingly, and the squad has a settled, confident look about it heading into the tournament.

Germany are in Group E alongside Ivory Coast and Ecuador, and anything other than qualification from this group would be a major shock. Florian Wirtz, Jamal Musiala and Leroy Sane give them arguably the most exciting attacking trio in the tournament, with Kai Havertz, who scored in the Champions League final for Arsenal, leading the line.

The only concern for Nagelsmann is goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who has been managing a calf problem. The 40 year old is expected to be fit to start and will become the oldest goalkeeper to play at a World Cup if he takes to the field in Houston.

Curacao’s qualification is one of the great stories in World Cup history.

Dick Advocaat’s side topped their CONCACAF qualifying group to become the smallest nation by both population and land area ever to reach the finals.

With a population of under 160,000, their presence in North America is a remarkable achievement for Caribbean football.

Leandro Bacuna captains the side and lines up alongside his brother Juninho in midfield. Tahith Chong, the former Manchester United winger now at Burnley, is their most recognisable name and carries the main goal threat.

Curacao lost 4-1 to Scotland in a warm-up game but bounced back with a 4-0 win over Aruba, and Advocaat will arrive in Houston with a clear game plan to give his side every possible chance against the four-time world champions.
