Canada v Bosnia-Herzegovina on TV: Live Streaming Details

Canada open their home World Cup campaign on Friday night at BMO Field in Toronto, hosting Bosnia-Herzegovina in Group B in the first men’s World Cup match ever played on Canadian soil.

It is a moment the country has been building towards for years, and the atmosphere in Toronto is expected to be electric.

Jesse Marsch’s side have lost all six of their previous World Cup matches across two tournaments, but there is a real belief this time around that they can go deep into the competition.

Canada are unbeaten in eight games heading into the tournament, though three of their last four have ended in draws.

The big question hanging over the entire Canadian camp is the fitness of captain Alphonso Davies.

The Bayern Munich winger has not played for the national team all year after suffering a hamstring strain and has been pessimistic about his chances of featuring in the opener.

If he does not make it, Richie Laryea steps in at left-back, with Jonathan David leading the attack alongside Cyle Larin.

David arrives as Canada’s main goal threat with 39 international goals to his name.

The Juventus striker is the penalty taker and the reference point for everything going forward. Tajon Buchanan is expected to start on the right, with Stephen Eustaquio and Ismael Kone forming the double pivot in midfield.

Bosnia-Herzegovina are here for only the second time, having made their World Cup debut in 2014 before going out in the group stage.

They qualified for this tournament by beating Italy on penalties in the European play-off final, which is one of the most impressive results any nation has achieved just to reach a World Cup.

Edin Dzeko, now 40, leads the attack and is one of a small group of players at this age still competing at a World Cup.

He and Sead Kolasinac are the only members of the current squad who were also part of the 2014 campaign. Ermedin Demirovic of Stuttgart is expected to partner Dzeko up front, with the Bosnians set up in a compact, organised shape under coach Sergej Barbarez.

Bosnia kept things tight in their pre-tournament friendlies, drawing 0-0 with North Macedonia and 1-1 with Panama. They are not here to make up the numbers, and a team that eliminated Italy will not be intimidated by the Canadian crowd.
