Sky Atlantic will not be bringing back Hit & Miss. The channel has no plans for a second series of the Paul Abbott drama starring Chloë Sevigny.
Created by Abbott, the writer behind Shameless and State of Play, Hit & Miss stars Sevigny as Mia, a transgender contract killer whose life is turned upside down when she learns that a former girlfriend has died and left her the father of an 11-year-old son. Mia takes on responsibility for the boy and his half-siblings on their remote Yorkshire farm while trying to keep her work a secret.
Peter Wight, Jonas Armstrong, Vincent Regan, Karla Crome, Reece Noi and Jorden Bennie co-star. The six-part series aired on Sky Atlantic from May to June and is also showing in the US on DirecTV’s Audience Network.
The decision comes despite earlier comments from those involved, including Sevigny, suggesting a second series was a possibility. In a statement, Sky Atlantic said Hit & Miss had been commissioned as a self-contained drama, and that the response from customers and the press had been overwhelmingly positive.
Hit & Miss was Sky Atlantic’s first original UK drama commission. The channel said it remains committed to investing in original British scripted series, pointing to upcoming drama Falcon and other projects still to be announced.
