Frankie Drake Mysteries has been renewed for a second season, with UKTV continuing its co-production of the period detective drama alongside Canada’s CBC.
Made by Shaftesbury and created by Carol Hay and Michelle Ricci, the series is set in 1920s Toronto and follows Frankie Drake, the city’s only female private investigator. Lauren Lee Smith returns as Frankie, who runs her own agency and takes on the cases the police won’t touch, with Chantel Riley back as her partner Trudy Clarke.
The pair are joined by morality officer Mary Shaw and Frankie’s friend Flapper Bell as they navigate a city full of bootleggers, con artists and killers. In the UK the show airs on Alibi, where the new season will land in due course.
