Channel 4S Humans Cancelled After Three Seasons

Channel 4 has confirmed that Humans has been cancelled after three seasons, bringing the ambitious sci fi drama to an early conclusion.

The series, which aired between 2015 and 2018, explored a near future where artificial intelligence takes human form through lifelike robots known as Synths.

Humans examined the social, ethical and emotional impact of advanced AI on everyday life, asking questions about consciousness, free will and what it truly means to be human.

The show starred an ensemble cast including Gemma Chan and Katherine Parkinson, whose performances were widely praised throughout the series’ run.

While Humans attracted strong critical acclaim and a dedicated fanbase, viewing figures declined over time, contributing to the decision not to commission a fourth season.

The third season ended on a cliff edge, leaving several storylines unresolved and prompting disappointment among viewers hoping for a final chapter.

Channel 4 acknowledged the show’s creative ambition, describing Humans as one of its most distinctive drama projects in recent years.

Despite its cancellation, Humans is expected to retain a strong legacy as one of the most thoughtful and socially relevant sci fi dramas produced by UK television.
