Netflix UK Sets Premiere Date For The Politician

Netflix has set a UK premiere date for The Politician, with all episodes of the comedy drama arriving on Friday September 27th.

The series is the first Netflix original from Ryan Murphy, the prolific creator of Glee, American Horror Story and Pose, who signed a major overall deal with the streamer in 2018. He created the show alongside his regular collaborators Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, and Netflix handed it a two-season order ahead of its launch.

Ben Platt, the Tony-winning star of Dear Evan Hansen, leads as Payton Hobart, a wealthy Santa Barbara student who has been certain since childhood that he will one day be President of the United States. The first season follows his ruthless campaign to become student body president at his high school. Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Lange, Zoey Deutch, Lucy Boynton and Bob Balaban co-star.

Described as a darkly comic satire, the series is produced by Ryan Murphy Television and Fox 21 Television Studios. As with other Netflix originals, the full first season is released in one go.
