Ben Miller is to guest star on the upcoming eighth season of Doctor Who, TVWise has learned.
Details of the character that the former Death In Paradise star will play are being kept firmly under wraps for now, with executive producer Steven Moffat merely commenting that he will play a “villain.”
Ben Miller, whose other television credits include Primeval and This Is Jinsy, is the latest actor to book a guest spot on the new season – the first to feature Capaldi as the Doctor. Other notable guest stars include Keeley Hawes and Tom Riley.
“As a committed Whovian I cannot believe my luck in joining the Twelfth Doctor for one of his inaugural adventures”, said Ben Miller. “My only worry is that they’ll make me leave the set when I’m not filming.”
While Executive Producer Steven Moffat added: “Mark Gatiss has written us a storming villain for his new episode, and with Capaldi in the TARDIS, we knew we needed somebody special to send everybody behind the sofa. And quite frankly, it’s about time Ben Miller was in Doctor Who!”
