Chris Carter’s TV Project ‘Unique’ Not Moving Forward
Carter had a drama project known as Unique set up at indie studio Media Rights Capital. Hollywood was all abuzz when news broke that Carter would be floating a new TV project, after having largely been off the scene since the conclusion of The X-Files and feature film sequel I Want To Believe (there was even talk of a third X-Files film). But after having what several network sources described as “promising meetings”, the drama project ultimately did not sell and multiple sources tell me that the project is now officially DOA.
For those who weren’t following pilot season too closely: Unique was described as a mystery series which would have had a heavy mythological component (a la The X-Files) and told the story of a woman who sets out to exact revenge on the people who murdered her husband, only to find herself drawn into a large global conspiracy.
Carter, repped by CAA, has one upcoming project, Fencewalker, while talk of a third X-Files film has cooled off in recent months. Representatives of Media Rights Capital declined to comment.
