France v Ivory Coast on TV: Live Streaming Details

France kick off their World Cup preparations on Thursday night when they host Ivory Coast at the Stade de la Beaujoire in Nantes.

It is the first meeting between the two nations since March 2022, when Les Bleus won a friendly 2-1 with a stoppage time Aurelien Tchouameni winner.

France head into the tournament as FIFA’s top ranked nation and are among the bookmakers’ favourites to win a third World Cup this summer. Didier Deschamps, who steps down after the tournament, guided Les Bleus through an unbeaten qualifying campaign, winning five and drawing one of their six matches.

The big team news concern is William Saliba, who aggravated a back injury in Arsenal’s Champions League final defeat to PSG last weekend and is not expected to play on Thursday. Ibrahima Konate is likely to step in alongside Dayot Upamecano at centre back.

Kylian Mbappe is just one goal away from equalling Olivier Giroud’s all time France scoring record of 57 goals, and he is expected to start, though Deschamps will likely manage his minutes. Several PSG players including Dembele, Barcola and Zaire-Emery may also be rested after their Champions League triumph.

Ivory Coast arrive in good form. Head coach Emerse Fae has built an impressive side, with the Elephants winning a large majority of their matches under him. They head to the World Cup in Group E alongside Germany, Ecuador and Curacao.

Their most recent results include a 4-0 win over South Korea and a 1-0 victory over Scotland. Yan Diomande, who scored 12 Bundesliga goals for RB Leipzig last season, is set to feature, as is Nicolas Pepe, who had seven goal contributions in his final six La Liga appearances for Villarreal.

Defender Clement Akpa has been ruled out through injury and replaced by left-back Christopher Operi, but Ivory Coast still have plenty of quality to cause France problems on Thursday night.
