Argentina World Cup Fixtures: TV and Streaming Details
Argentina’s opener against Algeria was shown on ITV1. Their second group game against Austria and the final group fixture against Jordan are both on BBC One. All three matches can be streamed for free via BBC iPlayer or ITVX depending on the broadcaster, with no subscription needed beyond a valid UK TV licence.
Argentina got their title defence off to the most spectacular start possible, hammering Algeria 3-0 in Kansas City on 17 June with Lionel Messi scoring a hat-trick on his 200th international appearance.
Messi then followed that up with both goals in a 2-0 win over Austria in Dallas on 22 June, taking his World Cup tally to 18 goals and making him the outright leading scorer in the tournament’s history, surpassing Miroslav Klose’s record of 16.
The 38-year old now has five goals in two games at this tournament alone, and Argentina have already sealed their place in the round of 32 with a game to spare, topping Group J with six points and a goal difference of plus five.
The third and final group game is Jordan v Argentina at AT&T Stadium in Dallas on 28 June, with a 3:00am BST kick off on BBC One. With qualification secured, Scaloni is expected to rotate his squad for that fixture ahead of the knockout rounds.
As Group J winners Argentina face a round of 32 tie in Miami on Monday 30 June at 11:00pm BST, live on BBC One.
Topping the group keeps Argentina away from the toughest potential opponents until the later stages, with Spain, France and England all in separate parts of the draw.
Should they progress from there, the round of 16 would follow in early July, with the quarter finals scheduled between 9 and 11 July.
The semi finals take place on 14 and 15 July, with Argentina’s potential semi final slot on Tuesday 15 July at 8:00pm BST in Atlanta, on BBC One.
The World Cup final takes place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Sunday 19 July, with kick off at 8:00pm BST. Both BBC and ITV will broadcast the final.
