The same two sides, the same ground, four days on. Nottingham Forest and Leeds United meet again at the City Ground, this time with a third round place at stake.
Saturday’s Premier League opener went the way of the visitors, Anton Stach curling in a free kick with two minutes left to settle a tight contest 1-0.
That was not the start Oliver Glasner wanted. The Austrian is Forest’s fifth manager in under a year and arrives having won the Conference League with Crystal Palace last season.
Pre-season offered more encouragement, with home wins over Bayer Leverkusen and Brest. Nicolo Savona and Ryan Yates are the only injury absentees.
Glasner is expected to use the tie to look at his squad depth. John Victor should come in between the posts and summer signing Ousmane Diomande could make his debut after arriving from Sporting Lisbon.
Leeds finished 14th on their return to the top flight last season and have spent the summer shoring up a defence that shipped 56 goals, bringing in James Trafford, Nico Elvedi and Tarik Muharemovic.
Daniel Farke is without Wilfried Gnonto, Noah Okafor and Mateo Joseph, the last of those still recovering from a cruciate ligament injury. Ilia Gruev remains out with a knee problem.
Gabriel Gudmundsson may be held back again after missing Saturday, with Dan James, Sean Longstaff, Sam Byram and Largie Ramazani all pushing for starts.
Leeds have won four of the last five meetings between the clubs. Neither side got far in this competition last season, Forest losing at Swansea City in the third round and Leeds going out on penalties at Sheffield Wednesday in the second.
