Scotland v Slovenia on TV Today

This is a BBC game and free to air, though the channel itself has not been confirmed. BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website will have it regardless, and it goes head to head with England v Czech Republic on ITV1 at the same time.

Scotland and Slovenia are level on four points after three games, each having won one, drawn one and lost one. This is effectively a six-pointer for the promotion play-off place.

Saturday was the turning point.

Scotland won 2-0 in Skopje for Sebastien Pocognoli’s first victory since taking over from Steve Clarke, ending a run of four games without a goal. Before that came the goalless draw with Slovenia and a 3-0 defeat to Switzerland played almost entirely with ten men after Jack Hendry was sent off inside 11 minutes.

Hendry is back from that suspension, which is just as well, because Scott McKenna is now serving one of his own after being dismissed in North Macedonia. Stephen Welsh and Luis Binks should complete the back three.

Andy Robertson won his 100th cap in Skopje and continues at left wing-back, with Ben Gannon-Doak on the opposite flank.

Slovenia have had an identical campaign in results terms. They beat North Macedonia 2-0 through Sandi Lovric and Aljosa Matko, then lost 2-1 in Switzerland having led inside two minutes through Zan Vipotnik.

An Erik Janza own goal and a Dan Ndoye finish before the break turned that one around, and travelling has not suited Bostjan Cesar’s side lately. Vipotnik, who plays his club football at Swansea City, leads the line again, with Jan Oblak behind a back three of David Zec, Jaka Bijol and Vanja Drkusic.
