Royal Ascot continues on Thursday with Gold Cup Day, one of the most anticipated fixtures of the Flat racing season.
Thousands of racegoers will descend on Ascot Racecourse, while millions more are expected to follow the action from home. The centrepiece of the card is the Ascot Gold Cup, one of the most prestigious staying races in world racing.

The Ascot Gold Cup takes centre stage at 4.20pm as the leading stayers in training compete over two miles and four furlongs.
First run in 1807, the Group 1 contest remains one of the sport’s most prestigious prizes and regularly attracts some of the biggest names in Flat racing.
The supporting card features several highly competitive races, including the Norfolk Stakes for two year olds, the Britannia Stakes handicap and the Hampton Court Stakes for improving three year olds.
Thursday’s programme is traditionally one of the highlights of Royal Ascot, combining top class racing with one of the largest television audiences of the week.
