Elche v Barcelona on TV: Live Streaming Details

Barcelona finally get their La Liga title defence under way on Sunday night, a week later than the rest of the division.

Hansi Flick’s side saw their scheduled opener against Athletic Bilbao pushed back to August 27 because so many of their players were still involved in the closing stages of the 2026 World Cup.

The champions have been busy over the summer. Rodri has arrived from Manchester City alongside Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi, Jesse Bisiwu and Joao Cancelo, while Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres have both moved on.

Frenkie de Jong and Roony Bardghji are both out through injury, and the game is likely to arrive too soon for Rodri to make his debut, though a place on the bench is possible.

Pau Cubarsi is still building his fitness back up after the World Cup. Summer signing Hamza Abdelkarim could be rewarded with a start after scoring four times in pre-season, which ended with a 5-2 win at Basel and a 2-1 victory over Al Ahly.

Elche are already up and running, having opened with a 1-1 draw at Deportivo La Coruna last weekend.

Martin Anselmi has taken charge on an initial one-year deal, with the 41-year-old inheriting a squad strengthened by eight summer arrivals after a 15th-placed finish last season.

Yago Santiago and Adam Boayar are the only absentees, with new signing Fer Nino expected to lead the line.

History offers the hosts little encouragement. Elche have lost their last 12 meetings with Barcelona in all competitions and have not beaten them since December 1974.
