Manchester United and Manchester City will contest a Derby game on Saturday when the former play host to the latter.

This will be new United boss Michael Carrick’s first game in charge of the Red Devils since the three game stint back in 2021.

Man Utd

Manchester United are now left with only one aim for this season, to secure qualification to European competitions, and if possible, a Top 4 finish in the league.

Considering the fact that the side are still a mere three points behind the Top 4, even after winning just one out of their last six games, Utd are still in the hunt for a Champions League place so there’s everything to play for.

United have a difficult couple of weeks. The Manchester Derby today will be followed by a game against leaders Arsenal.

The home record of Manchester United while playing against the Citizens is also pretty poor in recent years, United have not scored in four out of the last five Manchester Derbies played at the Old Trafford in the Premier League.

Manchester City will enter the fixture after quite literally annihilating Exeter City; the Citizens scored 10 past the latter in the third round of the FA Cup, and conceded a solitary goal, and securing a 2-0 win over Newcastle United in the first leg of the EFL Cup semi-finals.

The two wins extended the winning run of Pep Guardiola’s side to 13 games in all competitions, including nine in the League.

A win today would definitely go a long way in helping the side reduce the six point gap between themselves and league leaders Arsenal.
