Is Celtic v Besiktas on TV?

Celtic’s European season has been a struggle from the start. They dropped into the Europa League after throwing away a four-goal lead against LASK in Champions League qualifying, and they have lost all three league phase games since, against Ferencvaros, Benfica and Celta Vigo, to sit near the bottom of the table.

Domestic form has wobbled too. Celtic beat Hearts 7-1 and won at Hibernian last month, but Sunday’s 2-0 defeat at Falkirk added to a run that has brought more defeats than wins, and the pressure on Martin O’Neill is rising.

Alistair Johnston and Yang Hyun-Jun are both out injured, but the rest of the squad should be available. O’Neill could make several changes after the Falkirk defeat, with Kasper Hogh, Sebastian Tounekti and Benjamin Nygren all in contention to start.

Besiktas are unbeaten in the league phase and sit eighth. Vincenzo Italiano’s side beat Marseille 4-1 on matchday one, won 3-2 at Hoffenheim and then drew 2-2 with Crystal Palace a fortnight ago.

Their Super Lig form has been less consistent, with dropped points in their last three away games, including a 2-2 draw at Kasimpasa at the weekend. Travelling has been their weaker side this season, which offers Celtic some encouragement.

Orkun Kokcu and Fabio Miretti are both injured, and Umit Akdag is suspended after being sent off against Crystal Palace. Dusan Vlahovic, Besiktas’ top scorer in the league, is expected to lead the line as he looks for his first Europa League goal of the season.

Celtic Park has hosted plenty of big European nights, and Celtic will need one here to keep their hopes of reaching the knockout stages alive.
