BBC One Sets Premiere Date For Death In Paradise Season 10

BBC One has confirmed that Death in Paradise will return for its tenth series on Thursday January 7th at 9pm, with the remaining episodes continuing weekly across the following Thursdays through to February 18th.

The eight-episode run marks ten years since the Caribbean-set crime drama first aired in 2011. Created by Robert Thorogood and produced by Red Planet Pictures, the series is filmed on the French island of Guadeloupe, which stands in for the fictional Saint Marie. It has become one of the BBC’s most reliable performers, with the ninth series averaging more than eight million viewers an episode.

Ralf Little returns as DI Neville Parker for his second series, alongside Don Warrington as Commissioner Selwyn Patterson, Tobi Bakare as DS JP Hooper and Élizabeth Bourgine as Catherine Bordey. Joséphine Jobert also returns as DS Florence Cassell, having left the show during its eighth series, while Tahj Miles joins the cast as trainee officer Marlon Pryce.

The tenth series was one of the harder shoots in the show’s history, with Red Planet Pictures filming in Guadeloupe under a detailed set of Covid-19 protocols to complete production during the pandemic. The broadcaster used the anniversary run to underline the show’s future, confirming that the series had been recommissioned for a further two series beyond this one.
