Sky Atlantic Sets UK Premiere Date For ‘The New Pope’; Releases Full Trailer

The Young Pope follow-up The New Pope will receive its UK premiere on Sky Atlantic on Sunday January 12 at 9pm, it has been announced.

The New Pope picks ups with Pius XIII is in a coma. And after an unpredictable and mysterious turn of events, the Secretary of State Voiello succeeds in the enterprise of having Sir John Brannox, a moderate English aristocrat, charming and sophisticated, placed on the papal throne adopting the name John Paul III.

The nine episode series is being produced by Wildside, Haut et Court TV and Mediapro, with Sky, HBO and Canal+ co-producing and stars Jude Law, John Malkovich, Silvio Orlando, Javier Cámara, Cécile de France, Ludivine Sagnier, Maurizio Lombardi, Henry Goodman, Ulrich Thomsen, Mark Ivanir and Massimo Ghini. Sharon Stone and Marilyn Manson guest star. Paolo Sorrentino directed all episodes. He also penned the series alongside Umberto Contarello and Stefano Bises.
