Will Attenborough (Major Crimes), Nico Mirallegro (My Mad Fat Diary), Kaine Zajaz (Informer), Amy-Leigh Hickman (Ackley Bridge), Josh Bowman (Time After Time), Nabil Elouahabi (The Night Of) Nebras Jamali (The Looming Tower) and Badria Timini (Unforgotten) have joined the cast of Our Girl for its fourth season.
They join a cast that includes Michelle Keegan as Georgie Lane, Rolan Bell as Kingy, Ben Batt as Blue, Mark Armstrong as Spanner, Jack Parry-Jones as Jackson, Sean Ward as Fingers, Sean Sagar as Monk, Dominic Jephcott as the new Brigadier, Angela Lonsdale as Georgie’s mum, Sean Gilder as Georgie’s dad, Joan Kempson as Georgie’s Nan and Linzey Cocker as Georgie’s sister Marie.
In season four, a positive Georgie is making leaps in her career, having been promoted to Sergeant, and now training a new bunch of medics. Happily living back in Manchester with her family, Georgie is insistent to her friends in 2 Section that she’s happy settled in her new job and will not be joining them on their upcoming deployment to Afghanistan, no matter how much they want her to. However, when a night on the town results in a near-fatal incident, she can’t deny that the painful memories of losing the love of her life, Elvis, to a Taliban attack, is the real reason she doesn’t want to go back. Georgie realises that she needs to return to Afghanistan to face her own fears.
“Fantastic to be with 2 Section once again as they head back to Afghanistan to assist with the training and mentoring of the Afghan National Army”, said series creator Tony Grounds. “Into our platoon we have enlisted some of the most talented young actors of the next generation. Michelle Keegan’s Sergeant Georgie Lane is an inspiration to all and it is a delight and honour to work with such a troupe.”
Our Girl was created by Tony Grounds and is produced by BBC Studios. Yvonne Francas (Love, Lies And Records, Death In Paradise) is the series producer. The executive producers are Tony Grounds, Roberto Troni, Hilary Salmon for BBC Studios and Mona Qureshi for BBC One. The fourth season has received an order for six episodes. Production got underway this week in South Africa ahead of a 2020 premiere on BBC One.
“For series four of Our Girl some brilliantly drawn new characters have joined 2 Section and are getting used to the discipline, camaraderie and heart-ache of army life for the first time”, said Hilary Salmon. “Actors Nico Mirallegro, Amy-Leigh Hickman, Kaine Zajaz and Will Attenborough have successfully completed boot camp and are looking forward to the rigours of filming. They couldn’t have a better role model than our leading lady Michelle Keegan whose professionalism is only equal to her talent.”
While Mona Qureshi, Executive Producer for BBC One, added: “Mona Qureshi, Executive Producer for BBC One, says: “Our Girl continues to grip BBC One audiences and we are thrilled to have Michelle Keegan and a troop of new and familiar faces back for the fourth series. Tony Grounds’ incredible scripts bring perspective to real events happening in the world in an entertaining and engaging way.”
