StarzPlay is bringing another Starz original series to the UK.
The streaming service, which is available exclusively in the UK on Amazon Prime via Amazon Channels, has picked up the UK rights to comedy series Now Apocalypse and will launch it day-and-date with the U.S. on Sunday March 10th.
Now Apocalypse follows Ulysses who is struggling to figure out his life in the surreal and bewildering city of Los Angeles. He and his friends Carly, Ford and Severine, are on various quests pursing love, sex and fame. Between sexual and romantic dating app adventures, Ulysses grows increasingly troubled as foreboding premonitory dreams make him wonder – is some kind of dark and monstrous conspiracy going on, or is he just smoking too much weed?
The ten episode comedy series, which was created by Gregg Araki and Karley Sciortino, stars Avan Jogia (Tut, Twisted), Kelli Berglund (Lab Rats, Dolly Parton’s Christmas Of Many Colors), Beau Mirchoff (Awkward, The Fosters) and Roxane Mesquida (Kaboom, Gossip Girl). Araki directed all ten episodes and serves as an executive producer alongside Steven Soderbergh (Logan Lucky, The Laundromat) and Gregory Jacobs (The Laundromat, Magic Mike XXL). Now Apocalypse will make its world premiere as an Official Selection of the 2019 Sundance Film Festival.
Since their launch in the UK back in May, StarzPlay has been building up a slate of exclusive first run imports, across both Starz originals and third-party acquisitions. They are the UK home to the Starz original series Counterpart, Sweetbitter, and Vida; Audience’s Stephen King adaptation Mr. Mercedes (distributed by Sony Pictures Television); and Hulu’s Castle Rock (distributed by Warner Bros. International Television Distribution). Castle Rock launches on StarzPlay this coming Friday (December 14th).
