5Star has set a UK premiere date for the sixth season of Wentworth Prison, with the Australian drama returning on Saturday June 23rd at 10pm, just four days after its premiere in Australia.
A contemporary reimagining of the classic Prisoner: Cell Block H, the FremantleMedia series is set inside the Wentworth Correctional Centre. Season six picks up just days after the dramatic escape of Franky Doyle and Joan Ferguson, with Kaz Proctor moving to reclaim her place as the prison’s top dog now that Ferguson is presumed dead.
The new run also brings in three formidable new inmates: Rita Connors (Leah Purcell), a fierce indigenous woman with a secret, on remand for armed robbery; Marie Winter (Susie Porter), a feared criminal matriarch and a would-be top dog in her own right; and Ruby Mitchell (Rarriwuy Hick), a hot-headed young boxer. As ever, old loyalties and buried secrets threaten to tear the place apart.
