Netflix has picked up the UK rights to The Good Place and will start streaming the NBC comedy from Thursday September 21st. The first season arrives in full, with the second added weekly, a day after it begins in the United States.

Created by Michael Schur, the man behind Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, the series stars Kristen Bell as Eleanor Shellstrop, a self-centred woman who dies and wakes up in the afterlife. She is welcomed to the Good Place, a heaven-like utopia, by its architect Michael, played by Ted Danson, only to realise she has been sent there by mistake.

As Eleanor tries to hide her decidedly imperfect past and pass herself off as a better person, the show mixes its high-concept premise with moral philosophy and sharp comedy. William Jackson Harper, Jameela Jamil, Manny Jacinto and D’Arcy Carden round out the main cast.
