Mickey Mouse is getting his own dedicated channel. Disney UK & Ireland has announced plans for a channel takeover which will see Disney XD+1 become ‘Mickey and Pals’ for a month, beginning on September 4th.
This will be the second channel takeover for Disney XD+1 – which is carried by both Sky and Virgin Media – in the past year; following the Marvel Spider-Man takeover which ran on the channel during the month of July.
Mickey and Pals is designed to cater for preschool viewers and will feature selected episodes of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Mickey and the Roadster Racers, Sofia the First, The Lion Guard and Doc McStuffins. The channel will also host a range of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse specials.
“As our company’s main ambassador Mickey Mouse brings joy to people worldwide”, said David Levine, General Manager of Disney Channel, UK and Ireland. “We are transporting all the fun and endearing optimism associated with him to one destination which parents and pre-schoolers can jointly embrace whether they view our shows via linear or VOD platforms, boosting our core Disney Junior offering”.
