Netflix UK has acquired the UK rights to three new series: The CW’s Archie Comics drama Riverdale, the Freeform supernatural drama Beyond, and the comedy You Me Her.
Riverdale is a dark, neo-noir reimagining of the Archie Comics characters, developed by the comics’ chief creative officer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and produced by Warner Bros. Television with Greg Berlanti. KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes and Cole Sprouse lead the cast as Archie, Betty, Veronica and Jughead, with the first season set in the wake of a teenager’s death that drags the secrets of a seemingly wholesome small town into the open. It launches on The CW in the new year, and Netflix will carry it internationally with episodes arriving the day after their US broadcast.
Beyond, from Freeform, follows Holden, a young man who wakes from a twelve-year coma to find he has developed strange new abilities and is caught up in a dangerous conspiracy. Burkely Duffield takes the lead role.
Completing the trio is You Me Her, billed as television’s first polyromantic comedy. It follows a settled suburban couple whose marriage takes an unexpected turn when both of them become involved with the same younger woman, mixing comedy with a frank look at modern relationships.
