History UK has set a premiere date for the second season of Vikings, with the historical drama arriving on the channel on Tuesday March 24th at 10pm.
Created by Michael Hirst, the series follows Ragnar Lothbrok, played by Travis Fimmel, the Norse farmer turned raider whose ambition has carried him to the rank of earl. The new season charts his continued rise as he pushes for power at home and leads his warriors on deeper raids into England, where he comes up against the cunning King Ecbert of Wessex.
Closer to home, Ragnar’s fortunes are complicated by a fracturing bond with his brother Rollo and by the strain his choices place on his marriage to the shield-maiden Lagertha. Travis Fimmel leads a cast that includes Katheryn Winnick, Clive Standen, Gustaf Skarsgård and Alexander Ludwig as Ragnar’s son Bjorn.
