Amazon Prime Instant Video has snapped up the exclusive UK rights to Constantine, NBC’s new supernatural drama. UK subscribers will be able to stream each episode shortly after it airs in the United States.
Based on the DC and Vertigo comic Hellblazer, the series stars Matt Ryan as John Constantine, a chain-smoking, working-class occult detective and exorcist who reluctantly takes up the fight against the demons and dark forces threatening humanity, all while haunted by the damnation of a soul he failed to save.
Developed by Daniel Cerone and David S. Goyer, the show mixes horror, fantasy and detective noir. Harold Perrineau co-stars as the enigmatic angel Manny, with Charles Halford as Constantine’s friend Chas. Amazon’s deal makes it the UK home for the series as it launches in the US.
