Robert Patrick is returning to UK screens.
ITV2 has sealed a deal with CBS Studios International to acquire Scorpion, the CBS drama series starring the former X-Files alum and Elyes Gabel, TVWise has learned.
From Nick Santora and Nicholas Wootton, Scorpion revolves around Walter, an eccentric genius and his international network of super-geniuses who form the last line of defense against the complex threats of the modern age. The drama is produced by CBS Television Studios and stars Elyes Gabel, Robert Patrick, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Ari Stidham and Ernie Hudson.
The agreement between the two companies, which was brokered by ITV’s Head of Acquired Series Sasha Breslau, gives ITV2 the exclusive first run UK broadcast and SVOD rights to Scorpion, which will premiere on ITV2 later this year.
“We are thrilled to be working with ITV to bring Scorpion’s unique and action packed storylines to British audiences,” said Stephen Tague, CBS Studios International’s Senior Vice President for Europe. “Scorpionwill undoubtedly add sizzle to ITV2’s schedule this autumn”.
“ITV2 is delighted to be showing Scorpion”, added Angela Jain, ITV’s Director of Digital Channels and Acquisitions. “We think this fun, action-packed drama about a group of misfit masterminds is a perfect fit for our young audience. Its incredibly strong premiere on CBS in the States is just the start we had hoped for. “
Scorpion is the latest series from the 2014-2015 broadcast season to land with a UK broadcaster. It follows Channel 5’s acquisition of Gotham, Sky1 picking up The Flash & Forever, Sky Living acquiring Stalker and Universal Channel’s deal for How To Get Away With Murder. Industry observers have commented that deals are taking longer to wrap up this year, though TVWise understands that several are in progress for such shows as State of Affairs, NCIS: New Orleans, The Odd Couple and Madam Secretary.
